Rival factions in the ongoing debate over the Pebble copper and gold mine in southwestern Alaska are gearing up for the latest House hearing on the controversial project.
A retired government scientist who has been described as elusive and secretive by those backing the proposed Pebble mine is now speaking up in force about why he so opposes the project and what he did to block it.
Since January, thousands of Alaskans have called in to speak before the Alaska Legislature. Their testimony is facilitated by 23 Legislative Information Offices around the state, and then channeled into the legislative process.
