Join the Sportsmen's Conservation Fund Challenge and help raise money to stop the Pebble mine and protect Bristol Bay's fishing and hunting.  All Challenge donations made through the end of 2012 will be doubled!

TWO WAYS YOU CAN HELP

  2. Partner with us to spread the word about the Challenge. Encourage your friends, clients, blog readers and business associates to donate. See below for more information and ideas.

ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

As you are well aware, the waters of Bristol Bay are legendary and the threats of the Pebble mine to water and fish are immense. Nearly 800 hunting and fishing businesses and organizations, have banded together to protect Bristol Bay's incredible natural resources so that Bristol Bay can continue to be an important part of America's hunting and fishing legacy.

Trout Unlimited's Save Bristol Bay program has been offered a challenge grant from a major supporter for efforts to protect Bristol Bay. For every dollar donated by individuals and businesses from now through December 31st, our supporter will match the donation (up to $200,000). All donations will go directly to Trout Unlimited's work to protect Bristol Bay's fish, wildlife and renewable resources from the risks posed by Pebble.

YOU CAN HELP US MEET THIS CHALLENGE

Whether its you, your clients or customers, or a combination of the two, your donation of $20, $50, $100, $1000 or any amount will be automatically doubled and go directly to stopping the Pebble mine. Several lodges and other businesses have already stepped up to the challenge and we hope that you will join them.

       

HOW THE PARTNERSHIP WORKS

1. Let us know you want to be involved and a your pledge amount. We will work with you to put together the support materials you think will be helpful and add your logo to this website.

2. Help raise money for the cause.  Figure out what fundraising strategy works best for your operation.  Here are a few ideas others have found worthwhile:

  • Feature the challenge in your e-newsletter, on your website and/or on
    your Facebook page. Include a link to
    www.SaveBristolBay.org/sportsmenschallenge so people can give online.
  • Send out holiday cards?  We have a small card you can include promoting the opportunity.
  • Personally let your clients and customers know about the issue (on the
    river, over dinner, or in a post season follow up), tell them why its
    important and recommend their support and tell them how to donate.
  • Put a "Would you like to add 1% to Protect Bristol Bay's fish, wildlife and jobs from the Pebble Mine?" line (or whatever percentage or flat dollar amount you think would be good) on your client's bill.
  • Match your clients donations - that way their donation will actually have three times the impact.
  • Donate a percentage of sales.

3. Ask us for help. We want to make this as easy as possible for you. Want a brochure or one page flyer that describes the challenge grant, the issue the donation will go toward, and answer questions?  Want a paragraph to highlight the opportunity on your website, blog or in your newsletter?  We are happy to provide whatever support is needed to help you participate in this challenge.  Just contact Nelli at nwilliams@tu.org or 907-230-7121.

Don't want to donate online?

Mail all paper donations to Trout Unlimited's Alaska Program. Attn: Sptsmns Challenge c/o Sidney Fadaoff 419 Sixth Street, Ste. 200 Juneau AK 99801 no later than December 31st. Make sure you include a note with your business name on it so we can track the donations appropriately.
